The farm “Villebol Sruds Farm” was founded in 1994. At that time, only one family of ostriches lived on the farm, and it was constituted of 2 tribal females and one male of black African ostriches. Then the primary business of the farm was pig breeding. Up till today, we can find on its territory a pig farm for 380 heads of ewes.
With time, the farm expanded and today it has achieved considerable success in the field of raising ostriches. The farm contains an incubator, a slaughter house, a department for processing and packing meat and meat products, and a department for preserving skin. The total area of the land reserved for ostrich breeding constitutes over 35 ha. The farm closely cooperates with many other ostrich farms in Denmark and has its own net of daughter farms which profit from the services of the main farm in what concerns the incubation of eggs, the slaughter of ostriches, and consultation.
“Villebol Struds Farm” is the largest farm for breeding ostriches in Northern Europe.
