OUR FARMS FOR BREEDING OSTRICHES
A Farm in Denmark

The farm “Villebol Sruds Farm” was founded in 1994. At that time, only one family of ostriches lived on the farm, and it was constituted of 2 tribal females and one male of black African ostriches. Then the primary business of the farm was pig breeding. Up till today, we can find on its territory a pig farm for 380 heads of ewes.

With time, the farm expanded and today it has achieved considerable success in the field of raising ostriches. The farm contains an incubator, a slaughter house, a department for processing and packing meat and meat products, and a department for preserving skin. The total area of the land reserved for ostrich breeding constitutes over 35 ha. The farm closely cooperates with many other ostrich farms in Denmark and has its own net of daughter farms which profit from the services of the main farm in what concerns the incubation of eggs, the slaughter of ostriches, and consultation.

“Villebol Struds Farm” is the largest farm for breeding ostriches in Northern Europe.

THE PRODUCTIVITY OF THE FARM
The productivity of the farm for the year 2002:

4. The number of chicks fit for slaughter, heads 240
5. The productivity of the slaughter house, heads 984
LIVESTOCK

Today the livestock of reproductive tribal birds constitutes 250 heads. We can also find on the farm more than 200 heads fit for slaughter (12-14 months). The number of chicks remains indeterminate since they are often sold for export or are sent for breeding on satellite farms.

THE PRODUCTIVITY OF THE INCUBATOR

At the time of the founding of the farm, 4 incubators with the capacity to hold up to 192 eggs each were bought for personal uses. They were re-equipped incubation closets for chicken eggs. With the growth in production, an incubation room was equipped to hold 1344 eggs.

Today the total capacity of the incubators is 2112 eggs at once.

A Farm in Poland

The farm “Grejsen-Agro” was founded as the daughter farm of the Danish “Villebol Struds Farm” in Poland. It is situated on the territory of the “Sosnovitsky National Park” not far away from Lublin. 180 heads of productive birds and 100 ostriches of the age fit for slaughter live on the territory of this farm which covers over 20 ha. Delivery of one-day-old chicks from the main farm to this farm takes place regularly in the aim of selling them in Poland and other countries.

An incubator which can hold over 1000 eggs will be in use by the beginning of the incubation period of the year 2004. We also plan to increase the number of tribal birds.

One-day-old chicks and tribal birds aged 4-7 years are for sale from this farm.
